The Sims 3 Memories of Memories

I tend to play without memories enabled these days because of concerns with save file lifetime but I looked back at my old "My Page" from a few years back and oh boy- drama! I forgot that so much stuff happened in my old save file and it covers more than 40 pages of memories.

People having romantic interests, siblings stealing partners from each other, marriages, break-ups, tons of appliance repairs... it just goes on.

Makes my most recent save file seem pretty calm to be honest.
The save file in question has long since stopped loading though... RIP

How about you guys? Do you still play with memories enabled? Anything interesting happened in your previous generations?

  • I would like to document the story of my Sims but it takes a lot of work and it won't always be interesting.
  • I have a sim who fishes and she had 206 memories, more than half from fishing. At around 200 memories on one sim, the game gets corrupted, and so did mine. I needed my mom's help in order to fix it. Now, I delete her fishing memories frequently, so she has much less.
  • @Simtown15 sounds like you might benefit from the memory managing mod that igazor mentioned earlier. It gives you full control over the memories you want enabled and allows for custom memories.

I think I'll get that! @igazor saves the day again!
Edit: I tried getting the version to customize the memories. There were so many, some I didn't even know existed. I feel overwhelmed.

It's not required to use the customization tool. You might want to set that aside if it's overwhelming. With all EPs in play, it certainly can take a while to slog through the entire list. Perhaps try the standard "important memories only" version at first and see how that goes?
  • I turned off memories in game options to avoid the problems I read about. I might look into that mod, though. ;)
  • I turned off memories in the game as soon as I could. But like @Nikkei_Simmer I store my sim’s histories on a blog. I surprise myself that I’m doing that almost only for myself nowadays (I used to share their stories on a forum but stopped doing that a couple of years ago) and still having fun with that. For me it’s become part of the game apparently. I love giving them a background that way. But I don’t need the game to do it for me.
  • I originally liked memories, but it bothered me how many memories were captured without an adequate image because I was focusing the camera on something else at the time. My sims' memories would have many events noted with hardly any pictures. Trying to acquire and manage these pictures with more than one sim in a household were a pain, so now I've got the memory system turned off and I take my own screenshots. It's fun to look back them.
  • It's too bad really, because the Sims 2 memory system was so great. There's only so many times I can see "Grew a Perfect Tomato Plant!" before I lose it.
