I have a 32" monitor, but I purposely chose one that natively supports a 1920 x 1080 resolution, because I have problems with my eyesight and wanted a larger monitor but one that wouldn't make the icons way too small to see.
I don't have a problem with the icons, it looks just like it did on my old 22" but just bigger. Perhaps choosing a larger monitor with a resolution like that might help you too.
I read that article but I don't agree with some of what was written. My monitor looks absolutely beautiful, not blurry and not pixelated at all, despite the resolution on such a large screen. Text is not smudged nor are details blurred, that is an absolute load of nonsense.
I don't pay attention to the opinions of some of these article writers that tell you that you "must not or should not" because it is all personal preference.
