Now that this thread is on the TS3 side of the forum (I assume it started elsewhere), there will likely be some very different perspectives added to it. I am a "hardcore" TS3 lover. Actually I'm not really sure what that means, but sounds like it fits. And I never expected or wanted TS3 2.0 out of this new iteration nor did any of my peers at NRaas.
We knew from over a year before release that TS4 would not be anywhere near the same game as its predecessors. I'm not talking about incidental things that have historically been developed as add-ons like occults, pets, and weather, I mean the core gameplay is vastly different as its programming. Slapping the same kinds of EPs onto it that we've already had is never going to change that and should never be expected to.
The reason many of us remain hardcore TS3 lovers, and I mean many of us who don't really spend any serious time participating on the TS4 side of the forum or talk about what it's "missing," is that we just prefer the TS3 style of play and what it brings to the table as a platform for our designs and the stories we weave through it. It's not really much more complicated than that. But then I don't think we are the audience the OP meant to be addressing here.
