I have started merging my cc and I was going thru my cc to see if I had enough hair cc to merge into another package file and I noticed, finally, my first merged hair file was nearly 600,000KB in size. This was the first cc I ever merged so I wasn't good at judging how big to make the files and I have since learned to keep them around 200MB. I don't think I still have the cc and I don't want to lose any pieces. Is there any way to unmerge them and make it into two merged files instead of one large one? I did find this tutorial to unmerge cc, but I don't want to delete the files, I want to keep them and re-merge them into two files. Any help is appreciated. I'm sure I'm really missing something simple, but since this isn't something I've done for long, I just don't want to mess anything up. TIA :)

Mnjae... ...-It can be unmerged, but the name of the packs unmerged is not the original, but a string of numbers. :( You'll have manually check one by one what they contain, unless a program called 'Packer'(?) can help you there (my memory eludes me).-and, sidenote; I have packages waaaay over that '200mb-limit''... I haven't had a problem with that. -And Yes, It cannot be said with enough pondus... -Sort stuff before making several-gigabyte-.package-files.I have five(!) conflicts, but five wild horses and a bear must rip me apart before i sort them out, due to the size/time it will take to unmerge. :s

@Mazakeen Ah, thanks for the info, but I think since everyone seems to be unanimous that my size being 500MB isn't a problem, I'll just leave that one file alone. I'm pretty sure, from your post, that I did correctly unmerge the file and yep, all the files where not named correctly but some numbers and letters. But, thanks! :) @Emily4331 Yes, I deleted the files after I merged them. This was sometime back and I have a habit of emptying my recycle bin as soon as something gets put in it. But this did teach me a lesson. Always save CC. I really don't know why I'm so strict with deleting things, I'm not hard pressed for storage at all. It's just a habit I've always been in. I don't really have a "lot" of cc, not really. But I have been collecting more and more. I wish I hadn't deleted all my old cc, cause I had some great pieces and now days it seems to be getting harder and harder to find some of it as links are going dead. I mostly like CAS cc, and it seems whenever I see a really great hairstyle, I never can find a good link for it. :(

I don't think there is any way to unmerge a file like that. The tutorial you found requires the CC's original package file, and that tutorial is the only thing I've seen about modifying the contents of a merged CC file. If you don't have the original CC to remerge into smaller files then I'd just leave it be. I know Store content is thought to load more reliably if kept in ebc files smaller than 200MB. But I've never seen clear answer to how to size merged package files. I've had merged hair files around 500MB before. I did remerge my CC hair into smaller files a few months ago, but I haven't noticed any difference.

I have no idea if it's possible to split a file like that.

I forgot to mention S3PE is better used for unmerging. I used S3 Dashboard to find the conflicts, after that... ...Ehrm, that is were the challenge lies within. -Sorting those volapyk unmerged files gives just as much sweat on my forehead as a crashed harddrive.

So you deleted the files after your merged them? Did you clear out your recycling bin? If not, you can restore them from there and then just re-merge them - this time in 2 separate groups for a smaller file size. Just highlight the files in your recycling bin and click "restore." I think in my experience it shoves them in your downloads folder after you restore them. (As in This PC> Downloads, not the Sims 3 folder).

I have huge package files from some creators due to me trying to eliminate conflicts. I don't worry too much about conflicts if they are from the same creator though. I spent actual weeks trying to get rid of them and in the end I had to decide if I want to use the CC or not. If I wanted it in my game I'd have to live with the conflicts.

I agree S3PE is the program that ought to be able to pull the packages apart but I've never tired to do it as I've kept all of the original files and just try different combinations of them each time I try to get rid of the conflicts.

What do you guys mean when you say "conflicts"? Would I know if there is a conflict? Cause I just threw a bunch of hairs together, a bunch of furniture together. Just whatever I downloaded at that time were grouped by "type" (ie hair, furniture, clothes, makeup, etc) and merged.

Do I need to worry about cc conflicting while merged? And would I know it?
