I chose other because I like to give my sims state of the art furnishings. The best refrigerator, stove, cabinets, tv, beds, artwork. I feel like their mom and want them to have the best. I try to keep them happy. I know that expensive objects isn't the key to happiness, but since it is a game: I like to splurge. If it was real life, I would make sure they understood that earning it is more important than just getting it. But like I said;
its a game! :) so I go a little crazy sometimes. - KevinL52758 years agoSeasoned AceI just started a game with two female roommates, and one of my first tasks is get enough money for a plumbot to do the cooking, cleaning, gardening, and nanny when the kids come along. But this time, I didn't put a plumbot store in town. I decided to go to Oasis Landing and buy one there.
Once they picked enough flowers, sold enough insects, etc, to afford the trip, they headed off to the future to pick out their new plumbot helper. Emit gave them a few tasks like he does, and one of them was to fly around with a jetpack. Then take a look at the statues of important people in the town square. Low and behold, both of them got a wish to "check the lotto records" while they were near the City Hall. *evil grin* Well, who am I to deny them that?
So once they returned back to their present time, they "played the lottery" and sure enough, they won $100,000. I donated $50k of it to the "Plan for the Future Fund" and earned the statue for the first time. Then they built a plumbot store in town with the rest and are making a fortune selling plumbots to the rest of the town.
Now to find them husbands who love them for them and not for their money. :D In the meantime, they're quite happy with their plumbot since I gave him the "capacity to love" chip. I'll say no more. o:)
PS: If you really are making more money than you know what to do with, you can use NRaaS Money Module in Story Progression to increase the property tax rate AND the income tax rate. - Amphorasims8 years agoNew SpectatorI don’t like my sims to have too much money because I like them to have challenges.
But one of them keeps setting fire to their home lot with a magic spell and insurance grants them 500,000 simoleons in fire damage. Even though only a small patch of ground was singed <_<
Thus my sim family kept on racking up the moolah. So now they’re millionaires from insurance fraud :D
I just pretty much spend their nefariously earned money on renovating their house since it’s a huge mansion. Lol - NikkeiSimmer8 years agoLegend

Hoard and Invest.
My sims do this too.
They invest, and then hoard all the income. I don't let them have luxury cars and all that stuff. They don't need it. They just live normal lifestyles with large bank balances.
Only luxury I give them is...

Makes them have "OMG...I love this house"-high...moodlets all the time. :D - Wait a minute... @Nikkei_Simmer did you just build your sims another new house? What happened to the previous over-the-top exceedingly ostentatious mansion?! Don't tell me
theyyou were bored already. I just hope you leave this one standing long enough to enjoy it a bit before blowing up the entire thing and starting over again.
Oh right, the poll. My sims get the most efficient versions of essential objects (beds, TVs and other toys, decor, etc.) but otherwise save up so they can buy their kids big mansions. It takes the sting out of downsizing the household and makesthemme feel less guilty about kicking them out. Besides, it's only fair, as the kids are put to work starting in childhood and have usually contributed a lot to the household bank accounts by the time I'm done with them. - NikkeiSimmer8 years agoLegend@puzzlezaddict - I know, it's a standing joke on the forum as well as in my house.
How long will @Nikkei_Simmer keep his house before he gets sick of it and razes it to the ground...building yet ANOTHER one?
Three days, One Week, Two Weeks. One Hour? - SillyHartluv8 years agoRising ScoutI spend it on expanding and improving my sim's houses. I always remember the intro to the first sims where the house kept getting new additions, so that is usually the first thing I do when my sims start amassing money. I also use master controller sometimes to give some of the poorer sims in my neighborhood some of my sim's extra money when I see the story about sims not being able to pay their loans or being in danger of having to move :'( Unless it is a sim I dislike. Then I just let them suffer.

I just discovered this ability a few weeks ago, even though I've been using MC for YEARS. :D I do the same thing! And when some kids move out after aging up to YA I give them a nice inheritance too. <3- SolitaryBeing8 years agoRising Hotshot

I think this is a great idea!
My Sims tend to stay in the same household when I play (difficult for me to let go of Sims you see :pensive:) - pebblesrcks8 years agoRising VeteranIf I'm playing in a custom world I populated with my favorite Sims, I usually have the active sim buy lots of cars and go around gifting everyone in town. Great way to keep simoleans down and I enjoy seeing the townies drive by or arrive at venues with their cars.
Also if a particular sim annoys me, I use MC cheats to take back the nice car my sim gave to them >:)
