I have a Sim that retired from the top of the culinary career. He finished the aspiration so his food never spoils. He bought a retail store where he cooks/sells every food in the game - including City Living stalls and Dine Out experiential dishes. I'm pretty proud of it, lol. Anyways, my Sims go to his "grocery store" about once a week and stock up on whatever they want so they never have to cook.
However, what they choose has a lot to do with age.
- Toddlers and kids go for basics - spaghetti, mac n cheese, hamburgers, cookies, brownies, pizza, etc. - nothing fancy, most say no to seafood and would rather go without dinner than eat anything with the word, "tofu" in it.
- Teens are a little more adventurous - love grilled dishes
- Young adults are down for whatever, they love the ethnic food-stall dishes, the spicier the better
- Adults are more fancy - a lot of gourmet/pricier meals. Love the experiential dishes.
- Elders - soft food that won't cause issues with their dentures
