- suzses8 years agoSeasoned AceThis was the closest choice for me. I don't really try or want to try to play the whole town, but I do move out kids from my main family and like to play them and their families if they have them. Tied right in with all that for me is the city building option. I really enjoy starting "empty" and either filling things up as I go, generation by generation, or maybe I'll fill up the map pretty much with community lots and some houses before I start. Just depends on if I want them to feel like deprived rural farmers at the outset. :p
- I had to choose other for this poll because lately I've been enjoying making my sims build their house up around them as they get the money but, I also enjoy creating sim(s) and just seeing where the game takes them.
- Dreamerz138 years agoSeasoned HotshotI either give up on a game too fast for it to count for anything. Or I play it FOREVER, slowly (very slowly) working my way through the generations.
- I play several different games at once in Sims 3. Currently I have one game going on where my sim just got a business degree and is just starting a job in business and will eventually buy a resort in Sunlit Tides. In my other game I'm a singer in Starlight Shores. I'm also changing the look of Starlight Shores as I go on and putting sims from other towns in the game.

"Generic storytelling" would be a great option too. Because I like generational play when I'm playing but I foremost use the game as a screenshot tool.
That would be a good option since I also play this way, although I would characterize my "stories" mostly as captioned pictures chronicling what happened in my game. I have written a story or 2 also but mostly it's just showing pictures. I love to take screenshots - scenery, lot design, closeups of my sims, action shots, etc. I probably should have included picture taking as an option on the "creative" poll too. :)- I love to play for generations though it's for the town instead of just my family as I found the game would too often glitch out if I wasn't playing my town rotationally like TS2.I use tons of Mods and configured my NRaas Mod settings for the TS2 style roational play and for a TS2 style of story progression.I start out in empty custom worlds and gradually build things up as I play families though some basic lots are built before my first settlers arrive. The families usually start with living on empty lots and end up building their houses gradually as they build up their money.
I also play a few challenge like that and love the idea of city or town building taking place mostly as the residents are settling in and setting their new lives up. - I have a main family that I play. Sometimes, I switch it up and play other families.
- Anmirla8 years agoSeasoned AceUnlike TS1 and TS2, I couldn't develop an attachment to premades in TS3 and adapting to a change in play style wasn't easy for me. I started playing homeless Sims and found myself thoroughly enjoying TS3 by completly changing the play!

This is the second part of the original poll I intended. There are a lot more options I could have chosen so if you like one of those let us know using other or the closest option.
Three days ago I started my own version of another simmer's legacy challenge. She even does a blog about it called 'Eternally Yours: For the Love of a Witch'. Legacy rules are the heir has to be female and a witch. I started with two sims but one is mortal (in other words: non-supernatural) and his wife is a witch. They have a daughter who is a witch and are expecting a son! I set up the NRAAS Story Progression mod so that there'd be a 50/50 chance of their kids being witches like their mother.
Here's a link to the table of contents for her story
(Full list is on the right side under Table of Contents) - I don’t do challenges but playing a legacy is so much the core of my playing style that I have to choose that. With that legacy I play many different games exploring different situations, towns, EPs, etc ;)
