@KATENESS - I expect the terrain paints to sort themselves out (eventually). They have glitched up on me before (not like this) and have always straightened themselves out; so I'm hoping that will still hold true. As for the fish, the grocery store also has the windows showing as the Alley Catfish. It's a worldwide problem, not a household one. Thanks for the suggestion, anyway.
UPDATE:
I solved my problem. My fish are fish again and the paints seemed to have worked themselves out. Since I play 'folder' games, I just copied the Thumbnail folder from one of my other games where things are working and replaced the faulty folder. All is well.
