When did you first start playing the sims

The Sims Freeplay was my first sims game in 2010 or 2011, can't remember. We had a thriving community who talked about Sims 3 a lot. It sounded like something that would be addictive so I put off trying it until late 2014. Been addicted ever since!

I'm actually glad I didn't know about The Sims in the beginning or my life would have been pretty different.

Yes the sims are addictive. but I love playing with them. It keeps you thinking.

@StephSteb I am so glad you tried. It is an amazing game. I tell people that there is almost nothing man can do that the sims can't, I even see people who look like some of the sims.

Since 2009! Sims 3 was new back then, and also my first Sims game. I loved it.

I also started with The Sims 1! Though, if I remember correctly, I got it for Christmas the year after it came out. So been playing since December 2001. So about 20 years. That's most of my life spent playing some iteration of The Sims. :lol:

@Magdaleena and @Emily433 its funny that one game can be so addicted all these years. Emily4331 you made me laugh when you said spending most of your life playing the sims. I guess I will play until my end time. I love the sims and no matter how many times I play it seems like a different game. Magdaleena I love the sims 3 too. It is always fun and new each time I play. great, have fun with the Sims.

I don't remember the year, but it could have been 2008 or 2009 and it started with a copy of The Sims 2 that I borrowed from my sister. She also had the Nightlife expansion pack. Then I bought my own copy of Sims 3 later in 2009 or 2010 and played it for a while. I only had a simple laptop then, and I remember shortly before I stopped playing I actually went to cook dinner while the game was loading. Yes, you read that correctly. Cook dinner.

Then I didn't play it again until 2017 when I started my current Sunset Valley save, but left it alone again for whatever reason until I picked it back up again in 2020, when I also bought my first expansion pack for Sims 3, "University Life".

I remember watching the ad for The Sims (the first game), because it would load before everytime I played "Sim City 3000", which I played a lot during the first half of the 2000s, but I always thought then that playing this weird "The Sims" game wasn't anything for me. :P

My first Sims-related game was either SimTower or SimTown back in the mid to late '90s. SimTower was basically running/managing a hotel and SimTown was like a dumbed-down version of SimCity. I then got into the Sims 1 the year or so that it came out and got a few expansions, but not all of them. Like, I never got Makin' Magic expansion. then I got Sims 2 and some of the expansions for that, but again not all of them because my computer at the time couldn't handle them and I wasn't interested. Now I have all the expansions for Sims 3 and I am enjoying them so much! Been enjoying them for the last 5 years or so with all of them installed.

I was middle aged when I came upon the Sims. I’d never picked up the Sims until January 2017 during a convalescence period from a serious illness - too busy with real life and trying to raise a family and build a business from the ground up. I was given my wife’s Sims 3 and told to go play and quit bugging her so she could play Mass Effect in peace and quiet. Of course that promptly git me addicted.

I mostly played old Snes games, but then I read about Sims 2 when it came out. Didn't think much about it, but then I saw more articles about the game and it seemed fun, so in autumn 2006 I bought the base game and University. I played the base game only for over a year, because I was a bit scared to install the expansion because I read somewhere that installing an EP could cause problems. :tongue: But I did, and the game was even more fun! So with time I got all EPs and SPs. I started playing Sims 3 when it came out, but took a long break while I continued playing Sims 2. Got a new PC and my Sims 2 saves refused to load for some reason, so I began to play Sims 3 more seriously and have never looked back. :smile:
