Yeah, how do I know about Jamie Fraser. My wife has every single book of Diana G's Outlander series and anything she can get her hands on. Anybody feel sorry for Claire Randall's husband (oh...probably nobody with estrogen)? I started reading the Outlander books right before the second one came out. I read those 2 but got tired of waiting for them to be written and ended up not reading any more of them. The same thing happened to the Song of Fire and Ice series (Game of Thrones). I read the first 3 but determined not to read any more until the whole series was written and published. In the meantime I'm completely enjoying both TV shows and don't have any mixed feeling because things aren't the same as the books. :)
