In the past I have always had to restart my saves because eventually the lag would get too bad or the saves would get corrupted.
All i do is try and keep it clean...deleting all cache files before i start a play session...that includes world caches...thumbnails caches...and the 5 main ones....plus seperating out my dcb files into more managable files for the game...nothing over 100,000 kb..
deleting the featured items folder as soon as it loads to the main menu...saving 4-5 times in 1 sim day...
I do the same for my vanilla game...
And prep work for adding in ex packs/stuff packs/and patches...never loading one into a "loaded game"..always empting out the Sims 3 folder before installation...
I mean i would probable cry if i lost my 55 week in BB...been going for over a year now....
I have only recently started clearing out the caches in the main sims 3 folder. Though I don't do it every play session. And I clear out the DCBackup folder regularly (NOT the ccmerged.package though).
Doesn't the featured items folder just re-generate everything when you play? I usually have shop mode turned off in game so I don't see any of it anyway. I don't know what the items in the World Cache folder do so I never touch them. I am also unsure what you mean by "seperating out my dcb files into more managable files" or loading into a loaded game.
Like I said, it has only been the last year or so that I've been using mods or cheats. Before that I just played the game and used the tools readily available (like WE) in it. I've learned a lot on these forums but there is also a lot of conflicting information put out on it so there is a lot I still don't understand.
