Checksky3 - any lot can be made to residential or community - but for instance a house with a residential stove would have the stove come up gone as the game does not allow some residential content on community lots and vice versa as Amjoie said. If you wanted sims to use these community houses make sure you make them "visitors allowed" or if you want just your own sims to use them then, make them "No visitors".
