@kretorrbwly That means sfc worked, at least, which is helpful. And yes, the only way to truly test this is to let the screen turn off while you're playing. Just make sure to save beforehand, so you don't lose any progress.
@kretorrbwly If you want me to take a look at a dxdiag, please post one. It's still possible that there's a system issue interfering. But it's also possible that your computer's power saving state is just incompatible with Sims 3.

@kretorrbwly Your dxdiag doesn't list any Sims 3 errors, so I don't see anything to fix on that front. One important thing to note is that your laptop's hardware is meant to run in low-power mode when possible, and that power setting might not be enough to run the game properly, which could cause a freeze. I can't be sure this is happening, but if so, and increasing the time it takes for the laptop to go into low-power mode helps, that's about as good a workaround as you'd see without messing with advanced power settings that might not even be accessible.
Your dxdiag does list some Windows update failures, and it's a good idea to clean those up. Here's how:
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the button to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
@puzzlezaddict So I followed the instractions.
First time everything went well. After the "sfc /scannow" I received the following message:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.
Restarted, updated and restarted again. Tried to do everything again just in case. When I check for updates it says I have an update by Intel (Intel Corporation - Display - 26.20.100.7325), and after a few seconds it disappears and says instead that I am up to date.
And after all that, did the powershell again, and now it says:
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
So I guess it worked...? Don't really know how to check it. except for trying to intentionally turn off the screen while playing.
