bought content not showing up in game?

I have the starter pack, bought through Origin, and I went ahead and got some Simspoints to buy some extra furniture. On the start menu it says the furniture needs to be installed, which I've done and it doesn't do anything, just goes back to saying it needs to be installed. I've followed all of the instructions I could find but my purchased content still isn't showing up in Buy Mode in the game. What happened? :c
