Can expansion packs from Origin work if I have base game from mac game store?
I have Sims 3 on mac game store, but Origin has some expansion packs on sale. Can I play the expansion packs if I have the base game from mac game store and expansion packs from Origin? Or would I need to have the base game directly from Origin in order to play the expansion packs?
@aczc24 I didn't even realize that the Mac Game Store carried Sims 3. I don't actually know whether Origin would recognize your base game install or not. But all legitimate third-party sellers should provide you with a game code, which you can register in Origin, if you haven't already. (Registering at the Sims 3 store counts as using the code too, and you'd have a corresponding Origin account with your game already added.) Even if you needed to uninstall the base game, you could then reinstall through Origin and then add the packs you bought.
If you can't find your code, you can try to find it on your computer. I'm not sure whether this technique works for your kind of install, but it's worth a shot:

If you do need to uninstall and then reinstall via Origin, you can preserve your saves and other user-made content by pulling your TS3 game folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts first. Once you've installed the new version and launched the game to test, you can move the files you want to keep from your old folder into the new one that will have been created.
