Can you install the sims 3 with just the barcode on your game case?

I have lost my manual and don't have the serial number anymore to install the sims 3 onto my new computer. I do have the case though and it has the barcode from when I purchased my game. Is there anyway to use this to install the game or maybe figure out what my serial code was?
