Cannot Connect To The EA Download Manager

So I just downloaded The Sims 3 game onto my computer (5 days ago) using Origin and then today I bought the Pets expansion. Downloaded that and when I went to install it it said that I have to update my Sims 3 game using the Launcher. I go to the updates tab and it tells me that it can not connect to the EA Download Manager. What should I do?
