I posted all the workarounds I could think of in that thread, but they don't seem to help for most people. Still, you could try them and see if you get lucky.
If your computer runs Windows, that's a completely different story.

Yes, I am on Mac. I'm also unable to log into my account through the actual sims 3 game, I'm able to log in at the launcher (couldn't do that for a bit too but somehow I fixed it) but once I load into the game I am logged out again and can't log in. I've had this issue before and I managed to resolve it but I can't remember how I did it now. The issue only started back up again when I tried to download content. Could these issues be linked?
To note, neither my password nor email have any special characters
