Cannot Go Home

I have the same problem but unfortunately wasn't aware it was a problem. So didn't make a saved file before Graduation.

I can answer the forum questions though.

- Are you using mods or did you do so before installing UL: Not sure what these are so not sure if I am using them

- Are you playing a game you started before UL or did you start a new one: Game that I had already played just sent the husband to college to see what would happen

- Are you playing with a fresh Sim or did you import one from the library: This was a SIM I had created

- Were you able to go to graduation or did all go wrong before: Was able to go to the graduation although invited family and friends didn't show

- Are you able to invite friend/family: Yes

- Did Sims from your hometown attend the graduation: No

- Try to describe as detailed as possible what happens: Went to graduation. Then Back to the dorm did a few misc things to boost the mood (eat, Pump iron, worked on upgrading a washing machine, got invited to a party {accepted}) when it was time to go home let the SIM alone. He showed up with his suitcase and went to the street then disappeared and reappeared on the other side without an attached lot, Interactions with other SIMS, or ability to use phone or vehicles in inventory.

- Do you have any duplicate Sims in your relationship bar: Not that I noticed

• Did you invite people from home or the Uni town ?
• Did you Sim get his diploma ?

No one was aware so don't feel bad. Maybe it can be saved somehow.

Do you feel confident trying something ?

Yes they had me try several things while I was working with tech support. Finally they had me watch the forum to wait for a fix.

I did invite people from both Uni and Home

Yes my guy got his diploma but I had a problem with the choosing a extra trait. I could only get it to choose workaholic.

Did you try removing the trait from the box (double click) and then choose another ? Should be just a suggestion you can revert.

Do you have a backup you could try graduation again without inviting anyone ?

No because they had me save the game when my sim was stuck in limbo so now that is my only saved option for that game. I might just have done the trait selecting the wrong way.

Ok I was able to get my SIM back to a lot so have interactions but tried to "drop out of university" to go home and samething happened again. So for now just  going to work on stuff in the dorm I guess maybe try another degree. Hope this can get figured out soon.

Also not sure if this is pertanent but all of my "roommate" show up in my active household picture. Could it be that because they aren't all leaving that is why my specific guy is stuck? It is tying all my house hold funds to them all.

Steps I did to get back to a lot:

Go into edit town mode

Click Return to Game Setup

Pick the Lot that they previously occupied then Clicked Rent

Sent me back to the dorm with phone working and interactions with items in inventory, people, objects, lots restored.

Still can't get back to the main game but got partially unstuck atleast.

Willing to share your savegame with me ?

If so, do the following

- Zip the folder in documents\electronicarts\thesims3\saves that corresponds with your corrupt file (name needs to match)

- Upload to any file sharing site that doesn't require registration or mediafire (I do have an account there). You can of course use any other means if you have them.

- Send me the link via PM.

- Let me know what world you are playing, if it's a custom one, I need a link.

I can but now it is stuck on the no location/no interaction area I am working to get it back to the dorm at least.

I am not even sure where to find a file sharing site? But would be willing to share the file for sure.
