Cannot Leave University

Hello! Having an issue with my Sims being unable to leave University after graduating. I've spoken with an EA Help advisor who passed on the issue to developers but I was wondering if there were any other steps I could try.

What's happening is: my Sims have graduated, I get the notification about needing to leave in an hour, the time passes, they all get into a moving van, then... the game gets stuck on the loading screen.

The first time this happened, the game displayed the "a serious error occurred" and took me to the main menu with strong graphical errors. So I restarted the game.

Loaded back in: got the "leaving in an hour" notification, Sims left, this time: the loading bar got stuck at around 95%. The "Find the ..." in the loading screen changed but did not register clicks.

A back-up was saved 30 minutes earlier. Also from after my Sims graduated. Tried loading that, issue occurs. Tried having my Sim drop out, tried deleting Sim inventory/family inventory items, tried emptying the mailbox. No avail.

Pecularily, the 'opportunity' notification sound plays towards the end of the loading screen, but the loading music continues.

This is the second time these same Sims have been sent to University. Last time they did not finish their degrees but returned home fine (although one somehow ended up with a complete business degree despite studying science and medicine). I've experienced a number of bugs but this second time was a cleaner play.

At worst, I do have a save from a few days ago. I'd lose a bit of progress (this save is about 40 weeks in-game and I switch between a number households so saving them to bin and starting a new save isn't an option).

I've removed my custom content. Only ever had MasterController installed as far as Mods go, but that was installed over a year ago and I've had Sims take many trips to and from all the World Adventures destinations with no issues whatsoever.

Any advice?

    @danielr02  I would suggest adding NRaas ErrorTrap, Overwatch, Traveler, and Register, all of which can help with some of the reasons you might not be able to load the homeworld again.  More information on the mods is here:

    I'd also suggest running a MasterController town reset in the University world a few sim-minutes before your sim is supposed to return home.  Click on the admin building and select NRaas > MC > Town Options > Reset Everything.  This could take a couple minutes to run, depending on the speed of your hardware.  You can experiment on a backup copy of your save, either your current backup or a new one you create by using "save as," to leave the original(s) intact.

    Please delete the five cache files every time you quit the game as well, at least while troubleshooting.  For reference, they are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package
