Can't Change Sim Lifespan

Since downloading The Sims 3 to my new Mac (M2 Pro Macbook running MacOS 13.5 - Ventura), I'm having a bunch of problems. Like many others, I'm struggling with the UI issue. I've tried a couple of options I've found online with no success thus far.

One of the strangest, though, is the inability to change my Sim's lifespan in settings. For some reason, the option is greyed out for me. What would cause that?

@puzzlezaddict I'm working with a save I just created. I wanted to create a long lifespan to enjoy the senior in it longer than the game might provide. However, the option to change from a normal to long lifespan is greyed out.

I don't know if it matters, but I'm running an M2 Macbook Pro 2023 using MacOS 13.5 (Ventura).

@msphoenixnoire  Try changing the value manually.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, open options.ini, and search for aginginterval .  Set it to 3.  The values are 1 to 4, Short to Epic, in order.

You can manually change the length of any age stage as well.  There's one value per stage, all starting with agingstagelength .

It is strange though that the option is grayed out.  I'd actually delete the current options.ini and let the game create a new one, then see whether you can change the age length.  If not, the file itself is probably being protected by an antivirus, or perhaps cloud syncing that's hung up for some reason.  It could also be mod-related, although I don't know of a specific mod that would do that.  Still, try removing your mods, if you have any, and see whether it helps.
