Can't Download Sims 3 starter pack

I am trying to download a new copy of the sims 3 starter pack to windows xp. It asked me to download Origin first. So, I did. I needed to register but I couldn't since I couldn't get an internet connection. After establishing an internet connection I kept getting error reports on Origin. I can no longer get the sign in option to Origin via installation of the game. I signed in at Origin.com. I have an account and everything, I just can't get Origin to work so I can download the Sims 3 game. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Origin also.
