Okay, I am having a strange issue that I've never experienced before. After I had problems even playing the game after the patch installed, I had to uninstall everything..and now after downloading the base game again, I can't seem to go through with installing the Sims 3 base game in Origin or even through the install file in the Sims 3 folder under Orgin Games.I spoke with Customer Service and they walked me through different steps which included Deleting all game installers through origin, manually uninstalling origin, turning off firewall and any antivirus, getting rid of some tasks and even running origin and just the installer through administrator. I'm still having the same problem, so I escaltated my issue and have to wait around 5 days or so to hear something back, but wanted to see if anyone else had this issue and got it solved.What happens is it'll finish downloading in origin and usually all my games go right ahead and enter the installation process on it's own afterwards, so that striked me as odd when it didn't. So, I hit install and get to the choose your country screen, click next and it'll say 'installing' under the game in origin, but then doesn't go any further and just stops. I got a bit futher through the actual install file in the folder, to the 'accept agreement' screen and then it just stops there. I'm on Windows 7 and never had problems installing this game before until now.

If you are having trouble installing Sims 3, or any game for that matter, the following is a procedure taken that may resolve your problem.Step One:Open Origin, and sign into your account. After doing so go to the game that was giving you trouble, in this case Sims 3 was giving me an issue.Step One Image: Game Select/Install Button----------------------------------------------------------------------------Step Two: Click "Install", and let the install go on, until it fails. You will notice a wizard attempt to open, and be dysfunctional. As the wizard box is displayed, open your Task Manager, and click on processes if you are on Windows 7, or less.. or simply expand the box if you are on Windows 8/8.1.Step Two Image: Task Manager/Processes-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Step Three: The Install wizard will vanish, the moment it does, look on the process menu, and click on the installation setup with your right button, you will then want to go to "Open File Location", it will then open the setup for Sims 3.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Step Four:Look for the setup.exe (or something similar depending on your OS) and right click it, run that in compatability mode. Choose your own options when prompted to do so to specify that the display of the wizard is what is giving you an issue. Your system will now check for issues within that program, simply save the options you chose, without testing it.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Final Step:At this point, right click on that same setup.exe program folder, and run it as an administrator. The Sims 3 installation will now appear, and prompt you with the terms to agree to, etc. When asked if you would like to install the default settings, or custom settings, choose custom. Exit, and restart Origin, so that it will recognize that the game is now installed, and click play to continue.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------The reason the installation wizard is not working properly is because the game is by default set to install to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\, which is a folder that does not exist on the computer, as far as I have personally studied. It's basically looking to that folder to explain to it what to do for the installation, and since that folder is not there, there is no explanation, thus the wizard would crash. Could you describe in more details where it fails. I assume you want to download and install from Origin and not from the disc ? Are there any left overs on your computer from the old installation ? I have a problem like this too...It'll get all the way to 100% on Origin, but never really install on my own computer. I've been fighting desperatly with this on my own computer, and even my sister can get it to work on her computer, which is an old XP, while I have a Windows 7.... I've been attempting to get help from EA multiple times (one was a 30 minute long conversation.) and nothing really helped. \I am not sure if this totally relates, but I am desprate here... I bought 3 expansion packs, and I don't want to throw money in the garbage.

I don't know what EA made you try so apologize if you already tried the suggestions. Does it go to 100% downloading or installing ? Did you try restarting Origin and if so, what does it say, still downloading/installing ? If you've already tried that, either alone or with the help of a game advisor, the only thing I've got to say is wait for them to give you a feedback since you escalated this issue.

Thanks, but I tried all these steps and even spoke to someone higher and we're still attempting to solve the issue. They're going to check my logs from Origin to see if it's anything from that and hopefully give me a call back soon. Thank you again, though. 🙂

I have been trying to re install my base game for days now, and origin keeps wanting to re istall Late Night first instead. Did I just waste my money on all the Sims 3 games ?

If you are having trouble installing Sims 3, or any game for that matter, the following is a procedure taken that may resolve your problem.
