Can't play games bought outright without Origins?

I purchased The Sims 3 as a disc when it first came out- it was never activated or bought through Origin. I downloaded Origin once I got a new computer when I heard about sharing your games with other computers without having to install it through the discs. That's simple, and it saves me time. I've never had to open or start Origins to play a game that I bought outright, but recently that has changed.

I have three different laptops belonging to three different people, and now one person is unable to play any of the games we've bought outright since two other people are on the account (one has to be offline to play) just to start up the game itself. I was never notified about this change, this was never a requirement until now, and now family and friends can't play the game anymore since we need to be on the same account, since it will not allow more than two people to play the game.

Once again, I was never notified about this change, and I would like a proper explanation as to why this change took place to begin with. It makes no sense that someone needs to make another account to purchase the game and the expansion packs themselves when we already own the game, or they need to download it through the disc without installing Origin and play an outdated version.

My family as well as myself have been loyal customers of EA Games for years, and have purchased games for both PC and game consoles, and this is not how you treat loyal customers. If this was for the sake of us having to purchase the game through Origin while making separate accounts, I am very disappointed in Origin (and EA Games itself), and don't see myself purchasing or activating any products through Origins in the future.

@duke0vice TS3 has been updated to be more like TS4. You can download the 1.67 super patch and set Origin not to update. You are correct - only one user can be logged into Origin at a time. EA is slowly bringing TS3 to be like TS4. If you read the EULA  that you agreed to when you installed the game - one user, one license. You do not own the game - what you bought was a license the use the software. Just like when you buy a movie dvd. It is for YOUR personal use. you can not reproduce the dvd or use the movie for profit. Software is the same way only it has not really been enforced. IMO the patch has eliminated the SecuROM install limit, make install through Origin possible, and the code is now used for what it was meant - an activation code. Once a code is used that code is locked to the Origin account. Origin is EA's version of Steam. You don't have to be notified - EA owns the software. If you think you OWN the software I suggest to contact a copyright attorney - I think you'll find out different.
