Can't redeem code for purchased world (Error 502 Bad Gateway)

Hello,

I purchased the Dragon Valley world on Origin today. I did this in hopes of avoiding having to use the Sims Store as whenever I tried to log in to make the transaction I was presented with a mostly blank page with only "502 Bad Gateway" written on it. My plan failed, because I was told I would have to redeem my code on the store page.

If someone could help out here, that would be great.

@Theta-3119 and @SirForteske  As you can see, EA is aware of the issue.  Hopefully it will be resolved soon, and I'll update this thread if I hear anything (and if one of the CMs doesn't beat me to it).

@Theta-3119  In theory, you could call EA customer support and ask that the world be added to your account.  But this wouldn't help you—worlds still need to be downloaded directly from the store.  So as long as you can't login, you won't be able to install the world itself.

In the absence of a solution to the error 502, the only workaround I can think of is downloading your store content onto another computer.  You'd need to install the TS3 base game first (you can skip the packs), and then open the launcher to spawn a game folder.  Once you downloaded the store content, you could transfer the Sims3Packs in Downloads (inside your new game folder in Documents) to the computer where you currently play.

Two caveats: the new install would have to be the same type (Origin/Steam/disc) as your existing one, and you should use your own account to install on another computer, i.e. no borrowing a friend's existing install to download.  The store content is encrypted to prevent sharing, and that also usually prevents different types of installs from using the same store downloads, although of course you can always redownload from your purchase history for free.

However, @SirForteske you may be able to go the EA Help route.  Since Sims Medieval is downloaded from Origin, if you can get a support rep to add the code, you can bypass the store entirely.

Edited: ignore this post, please, read my comment below.

Thanks for trying that, sorry to hear it didn't work.

To try to find out what's going on, knowing if this is an issue only in thesims3.com or in general would be very useful. So let me ask a few more questions:

    1) Was this the first time you logged into thesims3.com? If it was the first time, did you create an account before logging in?: https://www.thesims3.com/register.html

    2) If you follow these steps, do you get the same error?:

    1. Close any incognito windows you have open, and open a new incognito window in your browser
    2. Visit forums.thesims.com
    3. Try to sign in

If you do get the same error, could you close that incognito window, open a new one, and let me know if you can log into origin.com without any problems?

@Theta-3119  Unfortunately, redeeming the Dragon Valley code wouldn't be enough, as you would still need to log into thesims3.com to download the world - so let's try to find out what's going wrong there instead.

    Thank you!
