Cant run game after installing EP Seasons...

Hi,

in December 2012 I started to install Sims3 with following EPs: Late Night, Ambitions, Pets, World Adventures. After having some trouble (look here) it finally works. Some Superpatches have been installed in the last week, latest was 1.48.xxx .

Yesterday I installed the EP Seasons and all seems to be fine.

Due to the fact that the old Laptop was rather slow (XP SP3, 2GB RAM) I bought a new one with Windows 8, 8GB RAM and installed all the Sims3 SW again (incl. Patch 1.50.xxx). When I was finish I tested the game and surprise: only the EP Seasons is starting and claiming for the disc, no matter which icon or EP I tried to start.

So finally I deinstalled the EP Seasons and now every time I start the game it claims for the Late Night disc...

I tried it at the old Laptop and behavior is the same!!!

No matter which game is selected, the Seasons disc must be inserted!

What the hell is happened? Why cant I start any other game anymore?

Now I deinstalled all the Sims3 Software from the new Laptop and installed at first the main game, updated it to 1.50.xxx.

I started the game for a short time, all runs fine.

Next I installed the Ambitions EP. After installing I tried to run the main game again, no way, the game claimed for the Ambitions disc ☹️.

Even after updating the patch for Ambitions the same.

Anyhow I installed Late Night and now it claims for the Late Night disc ☹️.

It seems that always the last installed EP is the onliest which will be recognized from the launcher!? How can I run a EP or the main game again?

I did not found any post concerning this error, so does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

By the way, I am really get rid from this kind of software. Never had such problems with any other programs...

  • This is not an error.  This is how the game works.

After you install the base game and expansion packs, the launcher will always ask for the most recently released game; not the last one you downloaded, but the last one to be released.  In your case that's Seasons.  To play the game, you need to insert the disc it's asking for.  When you get to the main menu all your worlds will be available for you to play.  That means the worlds from the base game, Late Night,  Ambitions, and Pets will be there to choose from.  World Adventures and Seasons do not come with worlds but their features will be in the game as long as you installed.  You will always have all the EPs available this way.  Does this make sense?  I hope this clears things up.

    edit: grammar :D

Upps, ok, actually I do not play that game, its my daughters turn :D...

    Thanks for the fast response.

I was not aware of this behavior, as far as I remember I could start all games directly or via launcher but always with the specific disc in the drive and not with the latest installed one...

I understand.  It can be confusing for new players since most games don't work like that.  Hope it all works out for yall.  Happy Simming :D
