Can't Sign Into Sim 3/Can't Reset My Password

I saw a recent post that is similar to this one, but they are working with a Mac, I have a PC.

I can sign-in to my Sims account online, but not in-game. Keeps saying my sign-in info is incorrect. Attempted to reset my password, but it keeps bringing up a Windows Edge window - I don't use Edge or really any Windows programs - am I going to need to start using Edge/Windows to get this fixed?

I've been playing Sims 3 again only recently - when they launched the updated  Sims 1 and 2 - I figured I would reinstall Sims 3, play all 3 oldies, like I used to. I've been playing without the in-game log-in, but my Sims always want to send gifts/potions and I'm unable to.

Any words of wisdom on this would really be great, but please, I hope the solution isn't complicated, I am sooo not tech savvy.

  • I am also on PC and I am also having this issue. =-(

  • Are you using a VPN? I just turned my VPN off and it let me sign in using my email address.

  • Eskayti  Please do disable your VPN if you have one, as mentioned above.

    If that doesn't help, does your password contain special characters?  Sims 3 itself doesn't handle these well even when the password works on other EA sites?  You can change the password on ea.com, under Account Settings, rather than having to go through the game.

    If you do need to change your password, please also open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads and delete the file labeled [your email].bin, if it exists.  Either way, please also clear Edge's Internet Explorer-mode data, which the game uses for some purposes even if you don't.  How to do so is described towards the end of this article:

    I don't have any special characters in my password, I remember the fact the The Sims sign-ins don't like them. I will try to change it via ea.com. I think I did it through the site last time, but it's been awhile.

    I did remove my email file in Documents, as you mentioned, but for some reason I can't get into Edge at all - the window won't open, so I'm going to have my husband give it a shot. Once I get that open, I will go in and clean all that up.

    Thanks for all the assists on this - I'll let you know if and when it's working again.
