Continually crashing sims 3

Looking for help to fix the problem of the Sims 3 continually crashing on my windows 8 laptop.

I know this is a common problem among people who own windows 8 computers/laptops, so I thought that maybe if I put the game onto my old windows 7 laptop it would fix the problem. No such luck. SO both on a windows 7 and a windows 8 computer the game crashes. Sometimes you can get a little time out of the game (For example last night I got a good few hours of play time before the game crashed). Other times you barely have enough time to make a family before the game will kick you out and say that the game has stopped.

I have tried just having the games installed, without any of the extra content which can be downloaded online.

I have tried the DEP.

I'm running out of ideas on how to get the game to work and seeing as I just brought university and supernatural I feel as if I'm wasting my money investing in the Sims games.

Just to give people an idea, I have these games installed on my laptop:

The Sims 3

World Adventures

Ambitions

Generation

Late Night

Supernatural

University

I did have Pets installed however that seemed to make the game crash so I removed it. This was when I got a few hours of play out of the game last night. Today, on getting supernatural and university, I have installed and found that the game now crashes.

My current DEP list looks like this:

Two of the 'Sims 3 Starter Application' options were the new games which I added on. Normally it comes up on the list as 'Sims 3' however both of these come up as 'Sims 3 Starter Application'. I'm thinking maybe this is the problem seeing as Pets did the same thing when added to the list.

If anyone has any ideas, that would be great otherwise I've wasted a lot of money on games I cannot play which makes me one very unhappy student.

    Are you willing to try a third party tool ? There's a tool called Crash Log Analyzer that can you help get an indication what is wrong.

    Just google it (I can't link it here) and post the result either here or in the comments of the tool (that might be the better way to go cause the creator of the tool can help you first hand).

    I'll download it and see what it comes up with if my game crashes again.

    Right, all of my crashes have been titled as 'Max Memory Used - Try to reduce memory usage by lowering settings' and this is the information I was given:

    What settings do you recommend lowering?

    Looks to me like you have very few memory left.

    Are those games you played for quite a while or a newly started game ?

    It might be also an idea to update the EPs where possible (EA says it's not necessary but it does help some people). There's a tool called Patch Downloader at the same place where you can download those with (they are official patches)

    What do you mean by 'very few memory'? According to my laptop, my C drive where the game is installed to as 577 GB of space left in it.

    Also these are new games which I have started.

    Where can I find the Patch Downloader on the site?

    It's at the same site you downloaded the Crash Log Analyzer. Not here.

    It's a bit puzzling why you have those result on a new game.

    Ford said to lower all settings, including the Sims free will ones.

    I really don't know what else you can do. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe someone else has an idea. I'll pass this on to the other helpers

    Hi, Crin!
    Coming here from where You've sarched help.You know, I'm not tech wizz and I've looked at this, but I don't understand, what's happens. My CAS is slow too (with 16GB RAM, DEP n LAA), but game isn't crashing. Only crashes if I've searched sell whole family inventory (game duplicated content of treasure chests with all harvestables and SN elixirs 10 pieces for one).
    What I'll suggest, because I've read, that at ssaunders happens this when is creating family:
    Only way, how is my daughter (with similar issue) able to complete large family on old PC with cca 3GB of RAM), is save each sim in bin (then if game crashes it remains here), after each crash I'm cleaning for her     happens this when is creating family. Only way, how is my daughter able to complete large family on old PC (with cca 3GB of RAM), is save each sim in bin (then if game crashes sim remains here), after each crash I'm cleaning for her relative files and folders (*.log files, CurrentGame, Cache files, *.bad files in Saves and sometimes content of Thumbnails too).
    When is creating of various sims complete, then is my daughter adding one by one from sim-bin and completing only relationships and confirm family.

    I'm sorry, that I've don't explained this directly to You, but my english is horrible and I suspect, that Crin is understanding me. :Ooops: If You're able to understand my language, I think, better way for create whole household is saving each sim created in sim-bin, after relative crashes You need to clean with crash corrupted files, but sim will remain in Yours sim-bin.
    When You have completed creation of single sim, You create Yours family from sim-bin, modify only relationships (husband, daughter, ...) and confirm family. (My CAS is too very slow with 16 GB of RAM, LAA and DEP, but it not crashes. For my daughter with only cca 3GB of RAM is this procedure only way how she can create whole big household).

    Thank you both for the replies. I have had a little luck with my game and have been able to play for a couple of hours at a time. For now, I'm working on just creating 1 person families and building them up by playing the game (And finding pre-created Sims in the world to connect them with). Its not the best way of doing it, but seeing as I don't know much about computer programs (And not wanting to make a mistake within the system), I'm going to stick to this method for now. If anyone has anymore luck it would be amazing to hear from you. But for now, best of luck playing the Sims :D
