core/activation.dll not found on sims 3 launch
So I bought sims 3 yesterday and I have tried every possible solution and even contacted customer advice several times but nothing seems to help. I have been told my computer runs on a 12th gen intel CPU which I know doesn't work but I have tried every possible solution to work around that. I can't even get a refund ☹️
everything I have tried but nothing works :
- reinstalling sims 3
- clearing origin cache files
- process lasso
- Powershell script
- compatibility mode for 2017, 2018.
- etc...
@NateRiver66 Your dxdiag has the same errors as everyone else who's needed to manually install DirectX 9. So please do that, as described in this post:
@roberta591 I'm not sure what you're getting at here. First of all, @gracieandholly 's computer doesn't need any upgrades to run Sims 3 even on ultra settings, so the fact that it's an all-in-one isn't relevant unless something is broken, of which there's no indication. If the point is the low free space on C, that's irrelevant for Sims 3: it certainly wouldn't prevent the game from launching at all. I know Windows bloats a little, but it doesn't go from 18 GB free to less than 5 in a few minutes' time. And for the long-term health of the system, there's more than enough space on D to move over however much data is convenient. Second, VC++ 2013 has never been used by Sims 3 and is no longer used by Origin, and it's not a substitute for any of the required VC++ runtimes.
Finally, the error in both of these players' dxdiags is the one that shows up for everyone with DX9 issues. It's been a problem for four months now, and we've known that the workaround is to manually install DX9 for just as long.
