Crashing to Desktop

I am playing The Sims on a 27" iMac with 8GB of RAM (which is well over the minimum specs) and my game has been crashing to desktop frequently since playing in Monte Vista. I have the latest patch, and have all expansions and all stuff packs installed (as well as a fair amount from the Sims 3 Store, including all 7 worlds). Any suggestions? Is it that Monte Vista is a little buggy?
