@nightfalcon12 There's no solution, as far as we can tell. We're hoping EA might be able to fix it, although there's no guarantee that will happen. You can keep an eye on this thread for updates.
@EA_Leeloo can you confirm whether @MaxisJoe is still working at Maxis? Most uncommon of him to be silent over such a long period, especially since this is his "crown jewel"
@MaxisJoewould you happen to know if EA is even aware of these issues? I really want to be able to play the game a payed for with all its features. Could you give us an sort of update on this regard?
ps: I never got around to actually fully playing Isla Paradiso due to bugs and issues and then when the 64-bit was released I thought I'd finally be able to but then another problem. The ocean interactions (scuba diving, mermaids, discovering the islands...) are the one thing I look forward to the most and I've been able to so I really hope EA can do something about that.

@MaxisJoe Any updates on this issue? Any patches upcoming from EA/still working on bug fixes for TS3? Or are you guys aware of a manual workaround/fix that has been found that I could do with my game files or in my game? My Sims still cannot interact with oceans *at all* nearly a year later.
@caglaelibol If you own the old 32-bit version of Sims 3, you should have the 64-bit version on your account as well. But if that's not the case, you'll need to contact EA customer support.

Ask that the "entitlement," as it's called, for the 64-bit version of the base game be added to your account. If you own any packs, check whether they show up once the 64-bit base game is present, and if not, ask for the entitlements for those too.
@MaxisJoe please resolve this issue. This issue has been going on for almost two years now and it's not right to continue selling a game that isn't fully functional
It is seriously irritating that this has been a problem for THREE YEARS. I am getting back into the Sims 3 on my Mac and having the exact same problems as the rest of you. I can't believe how recently people have been talking about it. It's really discouraging. I'm interested in learning how to mod the game just to fix this. Does anyone have any pointers? I'd like to learn the coding language the game uses and compare the files for ocean interactions between my Mac and my Microsoft versions of the game. It would be fantastic if EA would help, but that seems to be a lost cause at this point, so I'm willing to take this into my own hands. Any comments at all are welcome.
I can't understand this at all either, since sims 3 is still being sold.
I have at least found a way for my Sims to go boating: I let them swim far out where I want and then when I click on "home" they even use the boat or cab.
This is not a solution at all, but it gives back a little game experience.
