I have installed Origin and all of my Sims 3 games with no issues. Then I clicked play and The Sims 3 startprogram showed up. However when I click play in the startprogram it says the following: "Could not start the game" "Your The Sims 3-base game is not compatible with this The Sims 3-expansion pack. Please update your game via the launcher." However I have already done that. So does anybody know what to do?
@8c01f7d924cc3522 Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and delete Version.tag, then try again to play.
My Sims 3 wont open it says: "Your The Sims 3 Base Game is incompatible with the current Sims 3 Expansion Pack. Please update your game via the game launcher."
- @puzzlezaddict This helped me, thank you so much
@badnewswitch Open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and delete the file labeled Version.tag. If you don't see one, make sure you're in the version of Documents on your computer, not in iCloud. You can access the right folder by clicking Macintosh HD (or whatever you've named your hard disk) in the left panel of a Finder window, then opening Users > your username > Documents. If you don't see Macintosh HD, click Finder in the upper-left corner of the screen, select Preferences > Sidebar, and check the box next to hard disks.
The Sims 3 Base Game is incompatible with the current Sims 3 Expansion Pack. Please update your game via the game launcher.
this keeps coming up every time i press play when i'm brought onto the sims 3 launcher, though I only have basegame installed.
I have also tried repairing, updating from origin and deleting then reinstalling.
any tips? on a macbook pro 2019.
@Cxlxnx13 Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and delete the file labeled Version.tag.
If you don't see the file, make sure you're in the local version of Documents, not the one in iCloud Drive. You can access the local version by opening Macintosh HD > Users > your username > Documents.
I purchased The Sims 3 but had to contact EA assistance today to make it go from a 32 to 64bit. The change was made successfully and the game was downloaded on my Origin account, along with 1 extension pack and 1 additional disk. However, the game won't launch. An error message always shows up saying the additional disk isn't compatible with the game and I should updated my game. I updated it twice on the Origin app but it still doesn't work. EA assistance wasn't able to help me and I can't even remove the additional disks without removing the whole game. Has anyone else encountered this problem ?
It did work I wish I would have found this before spending 3 hours with ea help and not resolving anything 🥲
- @puzzlezaddict Thank you!! It worked. :D
