Do you have to purchase clothing to change sims clothes?

I know about clicking the sim and selecting an outfit, and the formal and bathing suit outfits look chosen at random( I dont like them). Do you have to buy a new outfit from the sims store in order t...

You should be able to go to a wardrobe/dresser and select "plan outfit" to change any category of outfit. Alternatively, go to a styling salon, click on one of the mirror booths and select "makeover self". I hope this is what your question is asking
