@aodoherty I believe visiting any lot inside the city walls should count, or at least any community lot. Does it help to visit the Halls of the Lost Army or one of the parks? I know it's not what you're asking, but from what I remember, this isn't limited to the market.
You could also try quitting and reloading after placing your modified build and changing its lot type. And it might help to change the type to residential, then back to community/China market, then quit and reload.

@puzzlezaddictThanks very much. I will try that next time. I already deleted that wish. By the way, got a quest about the findng Dong Huo's Key, then the inspecting hole in the back of the market is supposed to be flashing? but no signal at all. I didn't edit anything on the basement. Maybe..I shouldn't save it to the community lot bin in Edit town mode and replace it in China. I was disappointed in it, and now I'm in Egypt.

@aodoherty It's definitely possible that replacing the lot broke the quest. When your sim is back in China, I'd cancel and reassign the quest, then check to see whether the related items are present in the tomb. These are more sensitive to breakage than standard tomb objects, and in general, I'd say if you want to complete quests AND replace a lot, do the quests first.

Thanks very much. I will try this. I tested this with other family just now.
After discussing the note, the star is still above the special merchant (market was replaced with my own here)
Deleted China file from this save folder, then traveled one more time, then eventrually the star shows up on the market. so I better not store the market into the community bin for use later. I didn't have any issue when I just edited some while staying in China. I should edit it and leave it in China every time in every saves.
