Downloading Problems from The Exchange = please help

 I have tried to download a couple of things from the exchange and I tried to install but it said I an missing expansion pack, and I am not sure what expansion pack or where to get it. Please help....

    Does it not install ? Usually the stuff you don't own is just replaced by something similar. What is it you're trying to download ? A house ? A Sim ?

    It is a washer and dryer that It says I need a missing expansion pack.

    Do you have ambitions ? If you download an object, you need the item itself. The objects on the exchange are just recolors.
