Well, if she didn't use the code, she could not have played it.
It's probably redeemed on her account. Have her check her purchase history: https://store.thesims3.com/purchaseHistory.html

So does that mean that I can't use on my computer? If it does, I'm going to be annoyed because she told me that she often shared sims discs with another friend and that they could always use the same code.
If she used the code then she owns the license to use the software. Once it is registered to your friends account it can not be transfered. I not sure how EA tags store items but I'm sure they are tags to prevent "sharing". Expansion packs and Stuff packs have different drm. Maybe she can gift it to you.
