EA App: Sims 3 Create a World Edit in-game doesn't work

For some reason when I use edit mode to edit the world I'm editing in The Sims 3 Create a World Tool, the program doesn't launch the game correctly under EA Desktop. The game instead opens The Sims 3...

I have now run into the same issue. Origin kept signing me out so I switched to EA app. Now, the 'Edit in Game' mode just launches the Sims 3 launcher as if I was about to play the game instead of loading my WIP world immediately. CAW works just fine otherwise.
