PieterKlinck This is a Known Issue with the 64-bit Mac version of Sims 3:
You'll need to contact support to get it sorted out. Feel free to link that thread, including the accepted solution from an EA community manager, if the support rep doesn't understand the issue.
I would strongly recommend using live chat rather than email so you can have a real-time conversation. If you don't see the option, try this link:
Make sure you're signed into an EA site (this one is fine) before clicking the link and that the location in the lower-right corner of the browser window is set to U.S. or U.K.

Thanx for the info! I'm glad I'm not the only one having a problem like this ;-) If I get a solution, I'll post it back here.
