My Sims 3 crashes after I use cheats
Hi so I am trying a challenge which forces my sim to have 0 in family funds, and when I used the family funds to cheat my funds game crashes or crashes after a few minutes. I first thought this is specifically related to me using the family funds cheat, however just me enabling cheats through the command seems to cause this issue.
Paxkey Your laptop's graphics chip is pretty weak for Sims 3, at least once pets are introduced. It's still very strange that using cheats is causing the crashing—that shouldn't happen at all and doesn't have anything to do with graphics rendering. And I don't think I've ever seen a case where this is how a graphics issue has played out.
Since it's an easy test, please remove or rename the Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts. When you open the launcher, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save in Appaloosa Plains and see how it runs.
If this doesn't help, you can delete the new Sims 3 folder and restore the old one. If it does help, you can start transferring your content from the old folder to the new one, but don't do everything at once; it's important to test mods and custom content first to see whether these files reintroduce the issue.
As for rendering pets, how invested are you in the animal population in Appaloosa Plains? For example, do you want cats or dogs but not horses, do you want the wild horses roaming around town, do you want raccoons and deer, do you want small animals? With mods, it's possible to remove some of these and leave others, which may help enough to make the world stable.
