Ive seen this issue on the forum and wanted to share my experience as I do not believe its related to mods (well, nraas anyway)
The first time i sent my sim to uni she was not enrolled, ahe was on vacation! this WAS due to nraas traveler mod as I had not updated to latest version. I updated all the nraas mods ( i have all of them).
2nd shot at Uni went with no problem. She got her report card at 8am, and went off to graduate at 1pm? She had not invited anyone to the graduation. My sim had to queue to get in to graduate but only for a brief time. She changed into graduation robes. At 7pm she got the message to go home in 1 hr but didnt actually leave until 9pm. She arrived back in the home world safely.
I reloaded the save which took me back to Friday 11.30pm. This time after getting the report card she invited about 8 family members. She went off to the graduation ceremony, but there was no evidence of any family there. At 7pm she got the 1 hr warning and then once again actually left at 9pm arriving in the home world safely.
I thought i would post this as someone who does have a lot of mods (all nraas though) and has not had the issue of not being able to graduate or return home
