Error during startup (HELP NEEDED)

I've been playing Sims 3 for a while, and I wanted to get some expansion packs. I decided to just buy an expansion pack(Pets). When I opened the Pets launcher, it said 'Error during starup.  Please see the Log for more details'. I don't know what the Log is, so I just restarted my computer, but still had the same problem in the launcher. I searched the internet for help, but most of the people with the same problem didn't use Origin, and the only way I can start the game is through it. I found a link (http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/quot-There-was-an-error-during-startup-Please-see-the-Log-for/td-p/4870) with someone that had the exact same problem as me, and his problem, it said under the question, was solved. This was the solution: My dad showed me what the problem was. If your account(computer account) is a standard user, you have to right click the icon and run as an administrater because your privileges are insufficient to run the launcher and update the game. As soon as I did that my launcher popped right up. But he also told me that before running the game I needed to exit out of the launcher and reopen it, not running as an admin. because it wouldn't have any of my saved content.

I tried during it, but it's impossible to do it(run as administrater) through Origin. I tried running Origin as administarter, but it still didn't work. So I did this: Acer (C: ) → Programmes (x86) → Origin Games → The Sims 3 → Game → Bin → S3Launcher. I ran S3Launcher as administrater, but it said I had to open it through Origins, so I am back to the first problem, and I have no idea what to do.

Note: I have Windows 8, and I haven't had any problems with Sims 3 before. I have ignored the software update popping up in the launcher for a while, and I've read the problem has something to do with updating, but I can only do that through Origin.
