I received the error message "Unable to start, please reinstall base game" I haven't tried to play the Sims since Christmas. I have most of the expansion packs and haven't added anything else since...
When did you buy the base game ? Were you able to play the game without Origin before ?
I would just try to apply the super patch over everything and see if that gets the game back in working condition
Try downloading the patch manually here:
