Error when downloading/installing patch?!

When I try to download the latest patch (Sims3_1.63.4.024002_from_1.57.62.023002.exe) from the Sims 3 (I also have ambitions and pets installed) I get an error message and it can't complete the downl...

    Thank you so much for your help! I did some more looking around on the internet and i finally managed to update! What i did was updated origin by unistalling and re-installing,  deleted all the cache files using this page http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Sims_3_Delete_Cache_Files from a forum advice page i found, and the used the super patch. So yeah, all is good now thank goodness :D

Thanks very much for your reply. I did try this (several times too) but it still comes up with the same message and won't fully download. It starts to but then doesn't finish :/ I have windows vista, and like i said the game still works, do i really need this patch?? I've heard it can cause problems if you do download it anyway :/ x

Depends if you want ITF or not. If you do, you need the patch.

It's also mandatory if you want to keep playing online and using the Sim 3 Store.

Manually downloading means downloading a file to your computer and then installing it by double-clicking. So if it doesn't download, why do you get the message on installing ?

    sorry, im not great with all the computer lingo stuff :/ the file downloaded and started installing right up until pretty much the end, and then it won't complete  (on the blue sims installing screen- this is when the error message pops up) .... i havent done anything with the games, i have no idea how to hack or mod them or whatever xD i just wish it was simple..... is there a reason it almost installs but then won't, do you know?? i guess i don't play online that often anyway, and i thought about getting the supernatural add on and a couple others but it does get a bit silly, the amount of extra stuff they've brought out :/ there must be a simpler way xD

    I''m worried that they keep adding and adding stuff and it might ruin things... should i try completely unistalling and then starting again or something? :/

      What's your operating system and what browser are you using ?

        I've looked in my control panel and it says its the Windows vista home basic (AMD sempron (tm) SI-42) and i usually use google chrome but do have internet explorer (if thats what you mean by browser). my brother updated my nvidia graphics card recently for me and did wonder if that was the issue.... its the GeForce 8200M G one. although its meant to help your computer run better so it might not have anything to do with it xD
