Expansion packs and worlds..

Hi all,

I'm new to the Sims 3 and am not really understanding the concept of the expansion packs and the downloadable worlds. I have the Late Night intalled and am using that, which I enjoy, though I have a few questions  (I downloaded the Sims 3/Late Night from Origin so I don't have any discs)

 1. Are all expansion packs actually  just separate games? ( When I installed late night I was expecting to use my current Sim from the base game, but I had to create a new sim/house etc... I thought by the word "expansion" it would mean I'd still live in Sunset Valley but can go over to other towns etc...? )

2. Are there expansion packs that I can still use my Sim I've created in Late Night(or Base Game) or do I have to create a new Sim/house/career per expansion pack?

3. Stuff packs, can they be used with any expansion pack? I have high end loft stuff and it does show up in Late Night, but if I was to add others, will they work in Late Night as well?

4. The downloadable worlds in the Sim Store, what are they exactly? Would I have to create a new Sim per world as well?

I'm just finding the thought of having to create new characters for each expansion pack a bit annoying. I'd like to get Supernatural and Pets as well as some of the worlds from the Sim Store, but what's holding me back is that I can't play them together (if that makes any sense)

So in other words, and correct me if I'm wrong: if I'd like to play Supernatural one day, I open that game and play with my ghost sim(hypathetically speaking) and if I want to go dancing in Bridgport, I have to open that game seperately and use that particular sim too (or if I'd like to go to the Sunlit Tides world)....etc... ??

Sorry to ramble on but there's just SO much available and so much to choose from and no real instructions on how to use everything.

Thanks everyone!

Lee

  • if you had a save game with your sim then that save should have been on the main menu to load that save game to carry on playing in say if you where in sunset valley you click on that save game in your menu to start playing from build/buy mode you can use the content from the other packs to use in your home world i.e.  in sunset valley

the expansions and or stuff packs combines with your base game for playing the game will launch from your newest installed released game to play

store worlds once bought/downloaded/installed will be in the maim menu +new game to select the store bought world to play in BUT the game will play from whatever game you normally load up from

for worlds that come with an EP  for example moonlit falls that too will be in the main menu to select the world to play in with any sim you have saved in your libiary

  • I kinda get it now,( I just have to transfer my saved content in the library and add it to whichever new world I use... correct?)  It's too bad they don't all link together so you can visit each town/world from one main game though. It would make it more fun no?

    Thanks so much for replying!!

with one of the patches we got we have an option to move sims to another world if you own different worlds  say your for example  in sunset valley and want to move to bridgeport before moving save your game then save as with a new save name  use the sim phone click on move you should then see an option within this town or new neighbourhood choose new neighbourhood thne th elist should show your wolds  click on the world to move too and off you go to a new town don't like the town use the phone again select a wold off you go to your new town

now th ething of it is if you move from again as an example  you move from sunset valley to bridgeport but you dont lik eor whatever so you move back to sunset valley it'll be like starting a ne wgame as your sims won't know anyone there even you lived there before

or you can start a game in each world you own but save each game individually that way you can different saved games going on

i have different  saves with each world  as i paly diffiernt style of games in each world

  • thats good info, thank you! I think I'll broaden my horizons and maybe get a couple EP's and start really having some fun with different characters. Thanks again!
