FAQ: The best way to completely restart Sims 3 and reduce lag
Okay so I've seen multiple posts from people tired of lag and having tons of bugs in your game. I've been there! I had issues until I found this trick. BE AWARE THAT YOU MAY LOSE YOUR SAVED GAMES! Do not respond with annoyance if you don't get your games back. ANYWAYS, here are the simple steps:
1. Go to your Sims 3 folder
2. DELETE THE WHOLE FOLDER!
- Make sure that Sims 3 has been quit. I do not know what will happen if the folder is deleted while the Sims 3 is running!
- If you are serious about certain saves, mods, or custom content, back them up in a folder on your desktop. However, there is a chance that they are the cause of your lag!
3. Start up the Sims 3
4. Exit Sims 3
5. Check and make sure that you have a brand new Sims 3 folder
6. Start up the Sims 3 and PLAY a quick game (Just so that you can exit the tutorial and make sure everything is working).
7. (optional) After exiting Sims 3 you can reenter all of your saves, mods, or cc.
That's it!
Please be aware that this process completely resets your game, and whatever you have saved in the game may be lost forever.
