Game Oversaturated, too Bright, and lacking Contrast

Hey I recently built a custom gaming PC and installed Sims 3 and I did some fixes to hopefully get it working better and taking full advantage of the hardware I installed, namely the ones in this video (https://youtu.be/XWVxfAFdK7I?si=ko0DP2HbMmAQbrSC) and they seemed to improve graphics and performance but when I loaded into a world and started playing I noticed one glaring issue that persists. Namely, the game is too bright and oversaturated and lacking in contrast, it looks good, but its way too bright and oversaturated. It makes seeing the cursor sometimes very hard and in the case of the lifetime rewards as shown, nearly impossible.  What can I do to fix this? Is there other graphical fixes to get the Sims 3 working on modern cards that I should try?

  • @neoromanempire  Please repair the game to undo all the changes you made, delete Options.ini from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, start a new save, and see how it looks.  It's important to establish whether the brightness is due to those changes or to something else on your system.

If the game is still too bright, do you have an HDR monitor, and does it help to disable HDR?  Many older games aren't fully compatible with HDR and look bright or washed out or gray, depending on the game in question.

If that isn't relevant either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to your reply.
