Launcher starts, I click the play button, it closes, loads for a second and stops
Do all installed games show up in the Origin client ?
Yes

I have a Mac the origin launcher starts but the sims 3 university life doesn't open but my sims 3 into the future opens up. When I go to my dock it shows both of my extension packs opens then my university life closes and my into the future stays there.
the game plays from your newest installed released game which for you is into the future your other games combine for playing so you should be able to play from the into the future expansion pack
