Crin, I have had this more than once installing on my old laptop. EA only gives you one warning notice that the card is not recognized. If you go in and play without the game accepting the card, no more warnings will appear even if the game is not accepting the card.
I so far updated widows 8. Have not added the game yet
To OP, somone else posted about their video card getting destroyed by this game so I posted below to them and will post to you
The sims 3 does not have a frames per second limiter. So you have to go into your Nvidia control panel and enable Vsync . It will lock the frame rate at 60 and stop the card from overheating. Otherwise the game will push the card continually to its max frame rate and overheat it.

Don't worry, I have adaptive Vsync on to prevent that. I saw someone else with the same issue as I do. He had a Geforce 780 and he was getting the same choppiness when moving the game camera that I do. I wish I cpuld fix this it really takes the fun out of the game.

Cool. Ill let you know what happens tomorrow once I get the game in. I had 86 updates to do on windows 8 which took 3 hours so I need an install break . Im going to actually have microsoft install the game and shut down the computer when I do it so I have no interfearence. This way I will be able to tell if the new patch has caused some problems to the launcher. I had issues with the launcher on my old computer with the 1.67 patch. It froze up some of the options and they were not working.
There is a youtube video on the sims with my card 770. Google it. They seem to be running the game smoothly in the video although they did state this

Very Playable. Game drops to 40 FPS due to poor programming by EA. Game is playable, but frequently jumps and stutters. - Anonymous12 years ago
what EP and Town are you playing? Maybe it's the ep your playing? Maybe the new patch.? The video with my card is dated last year before the new patch update. Just thougts at the moment.

I have all EPS and it seems to be happening with every town.

Hmm. I wonder if it is Island Paradise and just having it installed even if you don't play it. That EP is messed up they need to fix it. could it be the new patch. I dont have university but I have all others. I was playing Roaring Heights from the store. I will run tests on just the base game and will test each ep I add. This will take a while. I post what I find with each ep.
This person with the 780, did they post what EP's they have installed and what town they are playing? What OS, windows 8, 8.1
What OS are you on?
