One more addition to the bug I reported earlier. I had not noticed it right away, but the parents also stopped advancing in their careers. The meter simply would not advance to allow for promotions. I didn't notice it right away because the mother was on maternity leave for a long time and the father started in the Daycare profession.
The first sign that something was up was that no one was dropping off kids at the Daycare. At first, I thought it was a glitch with the profession, but then he took another job and didn't didn't advance at all. My assumption being that the game thinks they are still on vacation (which the grayed out travel button still shows) and so they can't do anything in their careers.
The mother is a workaholic and has been able to improve her work performance on the computer at home.
