You didn't post your graphics card and minimum requirements are for base only. 2 GB of RAM is just not enough for Sims 3.
Blue screens are serious and I would run a hardware check.
The graphic adapter is an Intel 945 GM Express Chipset Family
The cmputer is an Acer Aspire 9410Z
Did the hardware check come up with any indications what could be wrong ?
